I saw an advertisement for a patio/terrace greenhouse. It was nothing more than one of those plastic, 4 shelf units that you can buy and assemble -- or you could make one with PVC pipe sections. Over the top of the unit (the posts extended above the uppermost shelf) was placed a heavy plastic. You could use one of those clear plastic tablecloths. Instead of sewing seams and inserting a zipper for an opening, you could tape the sections together and just leave extra overlapping and forming a flap that could be pulled open to insert/remove plants.
It looked similar to this:

You could probably assemble the materials to make your own for about $40 as opposed to the $70 plus S&H to purchase ready-made.

Look at these plans for a hoop house
http://www.bae.ncsu.edu/programs/extension/publicat/postharv/green/small_greenhouse.pdf We haven't made one yet but the plans are hanging on my fridge! All told this shouldn't cost more than $100 if you bought everything. If you have any wood already or pvc that makes it even cheaper.

I hadn't asked personally, but it is good to benefit from some else isn't it. Thanks for the link, it looks pretty good.
