I have a question for ya'll...We live in the SE and its is raining alot here this year. I have most of my garden planted...but there is still a section that has already been tilled once but is now growing a nice pretty little crop of green manure. We have not been able to get in the garden to till it again so we can plant.
The question I have would be~ how soon after I till that in can I plant?? Steve Soloman in this book~ http://www.amazon.com/Gardening-When-Counts-Growing-Mother/dp/086571553X  ~says I should wait at least 3-6 wks. Personally, I think I can plant right away... I need to. My sweet potatoes need a long season. I gotta get them in the ground! My peppers are never gonna be ready, when I'll have a ton of tomatoes coming in. I need them ready at the same time. I'm starting to panic a little... I think its okay to just plant...any thoughts?

How often do we get to do the ideal? Personally I would just dig it over, turning in the new growth, rake level and go ahead and plant. It is a case of do that or miss out on your crops. A no brainer really. Sometimes we have to put the books to one side and do what is right for us in our situation.

I agree, I don't really have much choice... I need to plant my crops as you say! Now, if it will just quit raining so we can get in there without sinking to our ankles. Smiley
