Anyone know if baking soda is safe for rabbits?  Opinions found in random internet searches seem varied... What I'm thinking of is putting it under his bedding to help prevent fleas from breeding in there.  Fleas keep coming in the house every time we have a cold snap...

Thanks!

I don't know if this would help at all -- we use ash from our wood stove to keep bugs away from chickens.  Would that work for the rabbits as well?  If so, I'd love to use it for ours too.  I know we've never had a problem with any kinds of bugs with the chickens since we started using ash in their dust baths -- big problems before that, though.

I wanted to clarify that last post -- make sure the ash is good and cold before ever using it!  (I wouldn't think anyone would put hot ash in with rabbits, but just making sure!)  We have a spot where we dump ash, and I take from there after it's cooled down for several days, just to make sure nothing has smoldered.

She's only clarifying that because of an accident that I had last year... it was terrible.  At the very least, make sure you put some rosemary & sage and a few potatoes in with the ashes, it will save you time later...

Hmm, I've burned rosemary and used the ashes in cabinets and stuff to keep away mice, but I never thought about using it for fleas.  This has worked for you?  Interesting...

Thanks!

Anyone else know specifically about baking soda?
