My wife and I have been praying about moving back to TN from NC.  We live in the big city but on the outskirts. The Lord has convicted me about the amount of time that I have committed to the church and the neglect of my children.  I have been making changes for the good, but the last change that I feel that Lord has placed on my heart is a move back to the country/mountains.  My struggle currently is income.  I have a good, sufficient job right now but it is "nontransferable" to where we would like to move to.  So, I have been looking a home-based businesses.  I would like to start something here in the city before using it in the country.  Does anyone have any wisdom and insight as to how to begin the switch?  I'm not looking to become wealthy (although I wouldn't complain if its the Lord's will), just sufficient to take care of my family.

The longings you have are very much like our own...
and while I do not have lots of immediate answers, I can
say with all certainty that if this is God's will for you,
the doors will open.  It can appear so black and cloudy
one minute, then wham!  Things begin falling into place.
We started out on one journey where we believed we
were being directed...and amazingly wound up many
months later where we never expected...but truly
wanted to be!

So many go through life trading wealth for things that
are of so much more value.  It's wonderful that you
are seeking to make changes that will give you more
opportunities to be with your family!  They need you
much more than money.

Thank you for the encouragement!  The struggle is to avoid trying to "force" doors open instead of trusting in God and His timing.

You might find the "City to country was it worth it" thread on Rural locations recommendations helpful at this point.

Thank you for the suggestion.  I took a read through of that "stream."  It is a test of patience.  All that ya'll (as we say in the South) were saying is a in line with the vision that I feel that the Lord has given me and my wife.  My heart's desire is to purchase a few small acres and build my own house with a small barn for some animals.  I want my girls and my son to come to appreciate a good work ethic and a love for what God gives them.  I look forward to learning more as the time goes by.  I am still praying and searching out the Lord to see what He has instore for us.

We (Wife and 3 children) too are looking into relocating.

We have been blessed with a home that has increased greatly in value over the last 2 years. We homeschool and desire the least restrictive place to do so without much if any intervention in our children's education from the government. We started looking into Oklahoma (Tornadoes..no), then Wyoming (lacked usable land), and now Arizona. My wife has done most of the research since I don't have much time with work (Started in IT but was moved out of that field).

She told me about this site as we're both 1- looking into straw-bale construction and 2- interested in Arizona.

Anyhow, I'm here seeking advice on locations in Arizona as I was told that Gabe knows of some smaller towns, Show Low, Pinetop, and Snowflake.

We intend to sell, and use all of our equity to buy property, build, and pretty much start over, but without the hustle of the big city. I have a great paying job, but not much time to be with my family. I'd rather do my job with my family at my side than make great money and my family following after my shadow as I race along with the corporate types.

So anyone who can advise on:
1 - Where in Navajo county(Pro's and Con's) - Arizona
2 - Advice on relocating (scary for me)
3 - Contacts in that area to connect with

Thanks for tolerating this post...I ramble

A dreaming, Dad Of Three
